Braemar Golf ClubScotland’s highest 18 hole golf course, Braemar is one of the finest golfing treats in the North-East of Scotland. Lying in a natural amphitheatre created by the imposing Grampian Mountains and part of the magnificent Cairngorm National Park.

The club was founded in 1902, during the latter part of the golfing boom in Scotland. Initially a nine hole course was created and over the years this was developed into the wonderful eighteen hole course with licensed club and full facilities we have today.

Although set over 1200ft above sea level it is not hilly, in fact, playing along the banks of the Clunie Water it is mostly flat. The greens are considered to be amongst the finest in the area and although the course is very popular with holiday makers and golfing societies tee times are rarely a problem.

Despite being relatively short, measuring just under 5,000 yards, it is an excellent test of golf for players of all standards with some exceptionally tricky holes to tackle along the way.

The second hole is the signature hole at 369 yards, and considered one of the more difficult Par 4’s in the area. With the Clunie running along the right of the hole for its full length and thick rough on the left, one has to be especially careful when there is a wind blowing. Having successfully negotiated the tee shot, your second shot is into a green which is elevated forty feet above where your ball sits.

Braemar Golf JuniorsAnd if the golf isn’t going well as you would like, then take solace in the breathtaking scenery and wealth of wildlife which live in and around the golf course. Roe and red deer, hares, stoats, red squirrels, pheasant and grouse can often be sighted on the course while buzzards and eagles soar above.

The clubhouse at Braemar sits 84 people comfortably in the lounge area and further 50 people can be seated upstairs in the community room.

Serving an all day snack, lunch and dinner menu together with a fully stocked bar with all your favourite drinks, you are ensured of an enjoyable meal together with beautiful views overlooking the golf course and surrounding hills.
