Braemar is a geat location for exploring the attractions of Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park.

A new attraction opening in Spring 2019 is the Highland Games Centre at the entrance to the Highland Games arena

In the village centre are the Medieval ruins of Kindrochit Castle as well as the fascinating Braemar Castle and close by HM Queen’s royal residence, Balmoral Castle. In fact castles feature large in this part of Scotland with some outstanding castles within easy driving distance such as Dunnottar, Crathes, Blair and Glamis castles and Scone Palace. Information on the Castle Trail is here

A visit to the area would not be complete without a wee dram of whisky – next to Balmoral is the Royal Lochnagar distillery – and beyond the Whisky Trail takes you to the famous distilleries of Speyside.

The local area is famous for its outstanding natural beauty which drew Queen Victoria to the area and the Victorian Heritage Trail celebrates many places of interest. These are often great places for walks, family picnics or just relaxing.

For further information on local attractions visit the Visitor Information Centre in Braemar which is open all year.
